As a Beast of the Field to Favor with God

Daniel chapters 3&4 is such a beautiful story. It has ugly parts, but it is so wonderful to see what God can do...King Nebuchadnezzar was lifted up in PRIDE. Proverbs 6 tells us that God hates PRIDE. Because of the King's PRIDE, (Daniel 4:30 the king said, "Is not this great Babylon, that I HAVE BUILT for the house of the kiingdom BY THE MIGHT OF MY POWER, and for the honour of MY MAJESTY?) Nebuchadnezzar was lifted up in PRIDE. However, God, through a dream, told him that he would become as a beast of the field and eat grass for a period of time. His dream came true! However, at the end of those days when his understanding returned unto him, King Nebuchadnezzar began to put the glory where it belonged. He was no longer lifted up in PRIDE. He blessed the most High, and praised and honored Him that liveth forever! "Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth; and his ways judgment: and those that walk in PRIDE he is able to abase (or humble)." Daniel 4:37

We have trials in this life. However, even with King Nebuchadnezzar, God had a purpose and a plan. Daniel 4:17 says that this happened "to the intent that the living may KNOW that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men,.." At the end of King Nebuchadnezzar's trial and he was returned to sanity, he said in Daniel 4:1-3 "Nebuchadnezzar, the king, unto all people, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth, Peace by multiplied unto you. I thought it good to shew the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought (worked) toward me. How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation."

Nebuchadnezzar gave the glory to God and told everyone what God had done for him. Praise the LORD that he is able to take our messes and make something beautiful out of them.

Beware of Pride

God blesses humility and he will abase us if we are proud. King Nebuchadnezzar was lifted up in pride and his mind was hardened in pride and he was deposed and his glory was taken from him. When a hus
